Dr. Adam L. Bear is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology* and an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Bear earned a Bachelor's of Science from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in 2002. After working for a couple of years for the United States Tennis Association, Dr. Bear returned to school to pursue his passion in dentistry. Dr. Bear received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery with Distinction in Research from the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. During his time at Stony Brook University, Dr. Bear was the recipient of several awards, including: The American Academy of Periodontology Dental Student Award, Academy of Osseointegration Outstanding Student in Implant Dentistry Award, International Congress of Oral Implantologists and Sullivan-Schein Dental Predoctoral Achievement Award, The Quintessence Publishing Award for Research Achievement, Dr. Richard J. Oringer Award, and Dr. Charles and Maria Ryan Scholarship for Future Dental Academicians.
He has had extensive experience in periodontal and implant surgery, including treatment of peri-implant defects. In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Bear has lectured on the topic of Peri-Implantitis at the American Academy of Osseointegration annual meeting and the Suffolk County Dental Society general membership meeting.
Dr. Bear enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, cruises and movies.
*A Diplomate is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and who is certified by the American Board of Periodontology.
